Manchester United fans name their Player of the Month for October

Manchester United fans have picked midfielder Scott McTominay as their Player of the Month for October after a string of impressive performances.

The 22-year-old has stepped up in the absence of Paul Pogba and has formed a decent midfielder partnership with Fred.

Pogba is sidelined until December at least meaning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping the Scotland international can continue his impressive performances.

McTominay netted during the 3-1 win against Norwich and was key in away victories against both Partizan Belgrade and Chelsea.

MEN Sport asked fans to name their Player of the Month for October and the midfielder won by a vast majority.

69 per cent of the 2,210 respondents felt the youngster's achievements should be recognised.

Coming in second was striker Marcus Rashford. The England international endured a difficult start to the month, struggling for fitness during the defeat against Newcastle.

However, the striker responded with goals against Liverpool and Norwich as well as a brace against Chelsea - including a sensational Ronaldo-esque free-kick which proved to be decisive at Stamford Bridge.

21 per cent of fans felt that Rashford was United's player of the month.

Finally, in third was defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The summer signing has continued his impressive start to life at Old Trafford, proving to a crucial member of the squad alongside Harry Maguire in the back four.

His role has evolved in recent weeks with Solskjaer switching to a 3-5-2 formation but the former Crystal Palace man hasn't been fazed.

Nine per cent of fans believed the defender should be given the nod.

One per cent of supporters believe that the award should have went elsewhere, with a few fans suggesting Daniel James' showings deserved recognition.
