Manchester United fans name their biggest rival between Liverpool FC and Man City

Liverpool have maintained their place as Manchester United’s biggest rivals, with fans choosing their Merseyside opponents as the biggest rivalry of any two clubs in England.

United and Liverpool have historically fought head to head for all of the biggest titles in England and Europe, with United holding the edge domestically and Liverpool having more success in Europe.

But with the rise of Manchester City as a dominant force in England over the last decade, fans would be forgiven for turning their attentions close to home when they are looking for bragging rights.

But when MEN Sport asked fans to choose their top five rivals, it was Liverpool who comfortably earned the accolade of United's biggest rivals.

A total of 88 per cent of United fans consider Liverpool to be one of their top five rivals, representing a higher percentage than for any other club in the country.

It’s the same position they held when the survey was run last year, though they were disliked by 95 per cent of the fans that completed it then.

Manchester City find themselves in second place this year with 66 per cent of United fans picking them as a top five rival.
Chelsea are in third with 43 per cent, followed by Leeds with 38 per cent and Arsenal with 31 per cent.

City fans also consider Liverpool to be their main rivals according to the survey. Some 80 per cent of City fans said that they disliked Liverpool compared to 78per cent who dislike United.
