Manchester United fans name ideal Edinson Cavani replacement after transfer claims

Manchester United fans are looking ahead to the summer transfer window following reports that Edinson Cavani is set to leave the club.

Cavani 's current contract is due to expire at the end of this season and the striker has been linked with a move to Boca Juniors in Argentina.

The Uruguay international's father has claimed his son in not happy in England and wants to return to South America.

Cavani joined United on a free transfer last summer, having left French club Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expired.

He signed a one-year deal at Old Trafford, with the option for a further year, though no extension has been agreed as yet.

That would mean he could leave the club for free this summer.

Cavani has scored seven goals for United in 25 appearances in all competitions.

At 34, he was never at long-term option but has proved a useful addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad this term.

United supporters are now turning their attention to who the club could sign in the summer transfer window in the event of Cavani moving on.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland is a name that crops up.

Haaland has scored 45 goals in just 46 appearances since joining Dortmund from RB Salzburg.

The 20-year-old Norway international has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football, with United among a host of teams said to be interested.

Haaland's club-mate Jadon Sancho is another name mentioned, having been a target for United last summer, along with Leeds United ace Raphinha.

"My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again," Cavani's father, Luis, told TyC Sports.

"Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

"Edinson had many conversations with Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca.

"He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.

"By the middle of the year he will return to South America. My son's idea is not to continue there, he wants to return."
