Manchester United fans name double transfer regret after Jadon Sancho goal for England

Manchester United fans have rued the clubs inability to sign Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window after the pair combined for England's second goal against Republic of Ireland.

The Three Lions took the lead through United skipper Harry Maguire who captained his country for the first time and headed home after an excellent cross from Harry Winks on the 18 minute mark.

England continued to dominate the game with Grealish in particularly looking threatening. The Aston Villa captain picked out the Borussia Dortmund star with 30 minutes on the clock and Sancho darted inside before driving a low shot past Darren Randolph to double England's lead.

United were interested in both England stars during the summer transfer window but opted against moving for Grealish who ultimately penned a new long-term contract at Villa Park. The Reds prioritised the signing of Sancho but were unable to reach an agreement with Dortmund and the 20-year-old remained in Germany much to the dismay of United supporters.

Following Sancho's goal for England, United fans were left wondering what might have been if the pair ended up at Old Trafford during the summer.

Manchester United writers discuss Paul Pogba's future

Sancho has made a slow start to the Bundesliga season after failing to secure a summer return to the Premier League.

Dortmund chief Michael Zorc voiced concerns over his fitness following the summer-long transfer saga.

He said: "He has had better and more efficient games. He's lacking a bit of natural lightness at the moment. Of course we speak to him, but it's not something you can rediscover just by talking"

MEN Sport understand Sancho remains a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
