Manchester United fans laughed off suggestions from Arsenal supporters that Thomas Partey is a superior player to Bruno Fernandes.
Partey was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League all summer and was unsurprisingly rumoured to be of interest to United though MEN Sport understands he was not a genuine target.
United sealed four signings on deadline day, landing Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo, and Arsenal were also busy - triggering Partey's release clause at Atletico Madrid to end speculation over his future.
While few would disagree that the signing significantly strengthens Mikel Arteta's squad, some Arsenal fans have already compared the Ghana international to United maestro Fernandes, believing the former is a superior player.
United fans, unsurprisingly, laughed off the claim on social media.
Deadline day signing Telles revealed he spoke to Fernandes prior to completing his move to Old Trafford from Porto.
Telles said: "I believe I’m going to meet a marvellous group. I’ve spoken to Bruno Fernandes and he’s said how welcoming the boys are. I believe I will settle very well into the group."
