Manchester United fans mixed after Angel Di Maria's match winning performance vs Real Madrid

Manchester United fans have been reacting to former forward Angel Di Maria's brilliant match-winning performance for Paris Saint-Germain against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Without front-three Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Neymar, Madrid were firmly the favourites prior to the game but were humbled by a battling PSG side with former Everton man Idrissa Gueye marshaling the midfield and Di Maria grabbing two goals.

The Argentine opened the scoring after 14 minutes when he turned in a near post cut-back from a tight angle. He added another not long after with an even better strike, bending one in from the edge of the box.

Madrid tried to rally for a come back and had two goals correctly disallowed and eventually lost 3-0 when Thomas Meunier scored in added time on the counter attack.

It was a brilliant performance from Di Maria which has had some fans wondering what could have been had he managed to play at this level at Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old spent an ill-fated season at United between 2014-15 and despite a bright start he never adjusted to life in the Premier League and was sold the following summer.

He also trolled Old Trafford fans last season, pretending to drink a beer which had been thrown onto the pitch, when PSG beat United in a Champions League first leg tie.

So while some fans are wishing this was the Di Maria who played at United, others simply have no sympathy - and are pointing out he failed at the club.

Annoying.

Why?

Always wanted to go.

What could have been.

Jokes.

Timing.
