Manchester United fans make Wilfried Zaha demand after he submits transfer request

Some Manchester United fans reacted to the news that former player Wilfried Zaha has handed in a transfer request at Crystal Palace by calling for the Reds to re-sign him.

Zaha left Old Trafford in 2015 to return to his boyhood club Palace, but looks to be attempting to seal a move away from Selhurst Park in the final day of this summer's transfer window.

He has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Everton this summer, but nothing has materialised chiefly because Palace have reportedly put an £80million price tag on the 26-year-old. The Eagles have already sold star full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to United this summer and are reportedly unwilling to lose another of their prize assets.

Many United fans, however, believe Zaha is attainable because of the transfer clause that exists in his Palace deal.

The Reds inserted a 25 per cent sell-on clause into his contract when he left for Palace in 2015 — and managed to keep that clause active even when negotiating the Wan-Bissaka deal.

Supporters are therefore convinced Zaha would be available for £60million or less in the final day of the window, despite the fact Zaha left United under a cloud and has played down suggestions that he could one day return.

That hasn't stop them calling for him to be signed, as United consider attacking signings to replace Romelu Lukaku if the Belgian leaves for Italy. This is what they're saying:

There were some United fans, however, who weren't hopeful that the club would be able to get the deal over the line.

United have until 5pm tomorrow (Thursday) to sign players before the Premier League begins this weekend.
