Manchester United fans make Victor Lindelof demand after Cardiff defeat

Manchester United have demanded that Victor Lindelof is made the new captain of the club ahead of next season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to appoint a new permanent club captain in the off-season after Antonio Valencia made his final appearance for the club during the final day defeat to Cardiff.

United ended the season on a low as they were defeated 2-0 by relegated Cardiff at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. The loss left Solskjaer's side in sixth-place in the Premier League and 32 points off champions Man City.

Taking to social media on Monday afternoon Sweden international Lindelof summed up the mood with a stern message. "Not the season we wanted," he tweeted. "Now's not the time to say more. Time to go away, take stock and come back fresh for pre-season. Next season must be better."

Although the mood around Old Trafford has been sombre in recent weeks United fans appreciated the words from Lindelof and urged that he is given the captaincy next season.
