Manchester United fans are urging their club to get down to business after seeing Aston Villa sign Philippe Coutinho.
The Barcelona forward has reunited with former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard, making the move to Villa Park on loan for the remainder of the season.
Coutinho’s arrival is quite the coup for Villa – despite his struggles since leaving Anfield, the Brazilian is still an exciting prospect, especially if he can rediscover some of the form that saw him earn his big money move to the Camp Nou.
And the signing has got United fans calling for their club to step things up with the January transfer window, having also seen previous target Kieran Trippier make the move to Newcastle from Atletico Madrid.
Ralf Rangnick could well dip into the market in order to strengthen his squad this month, with midfield a priority as the interim manager looks to turn around United’s flailing season.
With growing reports of unrest among the squad, and plenty of names being linked with an Old Trafford move — but no concrete moves lined up at the moment — United fans are getting a little impatient, especially after seeing Coutinho heading to Villa.
Coutinho will be in line to make his Villa debut against United on Monday as the two sides meet in the third round of the FA Cup.
Not only that, but he could well make back-to-back appearances against Rangnick's side side in his first two games for his new club, with United also set to meet Villa in the league next weekend.
