Manchester United fans make transfer prediction following Tom Heaton signing

Manchester United fans believe one of David de Gea or Dean Henderson will leave the club this summer following the arrival of Tom Heaton.

It's been a busy week for United after it was confirmed on Thursday that a deal has been agreed to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

There was more good news to come on Friday as it was announced that Juan Mata has signed a new one-year deal and that goalkeeper Heaton has returned to the club.

The 35-year-old spent 13-years at United as he came through the youth ranks but left nine years ago to pursue a successful career away from Old Trafford, with notable spells at Burnley and Aston Villa, which saw him earn three caps for England.

Heaton's contract at Villa Park expired this summer and he has now returned to where his career began by signing a two-year deal at United, with the option for a third.

The signing of Heaton means there are now three senior goalkeepers currently on the books at United, with the club remaining in talks with Lee Grant to extend his stay after his contract expired at midnight on Wednesday to potentially make it four. Youngster Nathan Bishop is due to head out on loan to Mansfield for the season.

United supporters believe that having so many shot-stoppers at the club is unsustainable, especially when De Gea and Henderson both want to be playing regular football.

As a result, it's predicted that one of United's two first-choice goalkeepers could leave the club this summer, with Heaton playing back-up to whoever remains.

On his return to United, Heaton said: "For me to have the opportunity to come back after spending 13 great years here as a kid, it’s an incredible feeling and I’m really, really excited to get started.

“I’m just seeing it as a fantastic opportunity as I still feel I’ve got an awful lot to give and I’ve got the bit between my teeth.

“I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running. I feel in great shape and I’m looking forward to coming in to compete with the other goalkeepers."
