Manchester United fans make think Hannibal will soon be given another boost after new contract

Manchester United fans believe it won't be long before Hannibal makes his first-team debut.

It was announced on Monday that Hannibal had committed his future to United after putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract.

The 18-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Ligue 1 giants Monaco in 2019 and impressed so much that he was quickly promoted to the Under-23 side.

Hannibal's fine form has continued under the stewardship of Neil Wood, with the youngster scoring four goals and creating a further seven in 18 appearances.

The French attacking midfielder had been moved up to train with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's senior side earlier this year and may have followed in the footsteps of fellow starlet Shola Shoretire in making his bow for the first team had he not suffered an injury.

He has been out of action since mid-February with a shoulder problem but is now on the mend. He is still eligible to play in the FA Youth Cup and could make a comeback to the pitch ahead of the Under-18s' fourth round tie against either Liverpool or Sutton United, which will be decided on Tuesday night.

However, United fans have predicted that, with the performances he has put in for the reserves and his clear talent, Hannibal will soon be playing for the first team.

Hannibal's new deal comes after Shoretire signed his first professional contract last month. Solskjaer was full of praise for both players after they were promoted to the first team.

"The young kids, we’ve moved Shola up with us, Hannibal will join us and we’ll keep them with us for a while," said Solskjaer.

"It’s the next step in their development, we’ve got to take the hit that when they play for the reserves they have to travel by themselves. It’s a nice step for them, they’ve done really well."
