Manchester United supporters have told the club to continue their pursuit of Jadon Sancho despite the deal appearing to hit a standstill.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aiming to add more quality to his attacking ranks this summer to turn his promising side into Premier League title challengers, with Sancho his number one target.
United are long-term admirers of the rapid winger and have twice failed to sign him in the past - in 2017 when he left Manchester City and in 2019 - but were confident of finally getting their man this summer.
The deal has since been thrown into doubt, however, after Dortmund's self-imposed deadline of August 10 for a deal to be completed passed without one being so.
United always considered the deadline as 'meaningless' since the transfer window doesn't close until October 5, but sporting director Michael Zorc has been adamant that Sancho will not be leaving this summer, words which have been further echoed by head of licensed players department Sebastien Kehl.
However, United have still not given up on the deal and remain in negotiations with Dortmund's intermediaries Marco Lichtsteiner, brother of former Arsenal defender Stephan, and Emeka Obasi - who is also Sancho's agent.
MEN Sport understands that the England international's wages and the desired agent fees remain obstacles though and that's before the topic of the transfer fee is even broached, with Dortmund thought to be asking for £108million.
As United are determined not to repeat mistakes of the past in overspending on a player or an agent and Dortmund are under no pressure to sell as Sancho's contract does not expire until 2023, the transfer saga looks set to rumble on throughout the summer.

If it does then, as the club operate on a one-at-a-time strategy when dealing with transfers, United run the risk of delaying the other business they want to complete and not having new players through the door by the time they kick-off their new season on September 19.
Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish remains a target and Solskjaer hasn't ruled out bringing in a new centre-back either.
Despite the risk, the majority of United fans believe that signing Sancho is worth the wait. MEN Sport asked supporters: "Should United abandon their pursuit of Jadon Sancho this summer and turn their attention to other targets?"
A majority of 57.4 per cent of the 7,647 votes opted for 'No - We need to sign him!' while the remaining 42.6 per cent believe that United should turn their attentions elsewhere.
