Manchester United fans were delighted with the news that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had finally been announced as permanent manager, but their next demand was that Mike Phelan stayed.
Solskjaer has been given a three-year deal at Old Trafford and MEN Sport understand his assistant Phelan is expected to stay as part of Solskjaer's coaching staff.
Phelan, who was Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant, has become a cult hero with the United support and many wanted to know when the club were going to announce that he was staying.
Phelan has been described as an 'important part' of United's turnaround under Solskjaer but senior club sources insist the formal announcement makes it 'Ole's day'.
While an announcement is definitely on the cards it appears the fans will have to wait for it to be formalised.
Brilliant, but the next question is will Mike Phelan be his 2nd? He should be IMO. https://t.co/BA2NIpAZMw

Phelan's the real hero.
Ole will get the headlines and so he should as manager of the biggest club on the planet but equally as important is the appointment of Mike Phelan. Should never have been moved on in my opinion. Knows the club inside out.
