Manchester United fans have made a comparison with Tottenham and Liverpool's transfer strategy ahead of their move to sign Daniel James from Swansea.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to complete his first signing since being named first-team manager with Wales international James poised for a move to Old Trafford.
The move marks United's first steps towards their summer rebuild, but it seems the imminent arrival of James has divided supporters.
United have been keen to recruit young homegrown talent in the coming months, however there are some supporters who don't believe James is necessarily the calibre of player needed to mount a Champions League challenge.
Yet most fans are eager for the 21-year-old to be given a fair chance in the first-team, with many drawing comparison between him and Tottenham's signing of Dele Alli, as well as Liverpool's signing of Andrew Robertson.
Fair comparison?
I see some Mufc fans havent learned that throwing 100 million at a player isnt the answer. The snobbery over James is laughable, same folks said Dele Alli wasnt good enough.

It worked for Liverpool
United fans need to start accepting that a player from Swansea or West Ham can go on to lead the team to great heights. Van Dijk and Mane were from Southampton, Andrew Robertson was from Dundee, Wijnaldum was from Newcastle #MUFC

Hypocritical
#mufc fans “why can’t we scout the next Delle Alli before he becomes a 100m player”
— hongo (@hongo_jr) May 21, 2019
Same #mufc fans “why are we signing Daniel James.. no ambition.. banter club”
A risk can pay off
So was Andy Robertson. Look at his talent. What a player he became coming in from Hull.

Proving his talent
I don’t see what people’s issue is with James? He’s absolute class and showed it against City.

Don't panic
The same thing was said when Tottenham bought an unknown Dele Alli from MK Dons... We all know what happened to Spurs since then #MUFC https://t.co/xcstMWaSIs
