Manchester United fans make Erling Haaland transfer demand after defeat to Watford

Manchester United suffered a significant blow before Christmas after falling to a surprising defeat to bottom of the table Watford on Sunday.

United headed to Vicarage Road knowing that victory would have moved them above Tottenham in the hunt for a top-four finish and a single point behind Chelsea, with the two London rivals locking horns later in the day.

However, after a drab first half, Watford opened the scoring as Ismaila Sarr's tame effort was fumbled over the line by David de Gea - and things got worse just a few minutes later as Aaron Wan-Bissaka conceded a penalty, which Troy Deeney tucked home.

Watford held on to secure only their second victory of the season, inflicting a fifth defeat of the campaign and leaving United with just six wins from their opening 18 games.

Naturally, the result did not go down well among United fans and many took to social media to share their thoughts on a result which could have a significant effect on the battle for Champions League football next season.

Plenty of fans had the same response to the result, as they urged the club to be active in the January transfer window by securing a deal for Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland.

United hold an interest in the Norway international, who has been in stellar form this term, but face competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig for his services.
