Manchester United fans make Diogo Dalot demand amid transfer speculation

Manchester United fans are worried that allowing Diogo Dalot to leave the club permanently could come back to haunt them.

The Portuguese is way down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having failed to make the matchday squad for United's opening two league fixtures. Dalot was also an unused substitute in last week's Carabao Cup victory against Luton Town.

Unsurprisingly, Dalot has been linked with an exit given his current squad status, with AC Milan said to be keen to sign the 21-year-old.

Should United complete a deal for Porto defender Alex Telles before the October 5 transfer deadline, Dalot would be pushed further down the pecking order and an exit seems inevitable.

Given his age, there is every chance Dalot could be a success elsewhere in a league more suited his strengths.

As a result, United fans believe the defender should only be allowed to leave a on a long-term loan deal or with a buy-back clause included in his contract.

United have added youngster Ethan Laird to their first-team training squad ahead of Dalot's possible departure. The 19-year-old made his debut against Astana in the Europa League last season and also featured in the win against AZ Alkmaar.

Laird is unlikely to feature for United's U21 side against Rochdale in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night as a result of his presence at Carrington on Tuesday morning.
