Manchester United fans make demand as Amad Diallo transfer is confirmed

Manchester United fans have reiterated their demand for the club to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window.

United confirmed their first new arrival of 2021 on Thursday as Atalanta starlet Amad Diallo was officially unveiled after completing his £19million, rising to £37million, move and putting pen to paper on a four-and-half-year-deal.

While Diallo has plenty of potential he still only has five senior games under his belt in his young career so far and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already admitted that the Ivorian winger will need time to adapt to life in England.

United fans have been quick to point out that Diallo's arrival in Manchester won't solve the current issues in the side and some have used the announcement to once again beg the club to bring in a new central defender.

Solskjaer's side have been in incredible form in the Premier League and are currently on a 10-game unbeaten streak which has seen them climb level on points with Liverpool, with a genuine title challenge now looking on the cards.

However, the club were brought crashing back down to Earth on Wednesday as they lost their fourth semi-final in succession after they were handily dispatched 2-0 by neighbours Manchester City.

The opening goal for the Blues came when a lapse in concentration at a set-piece allowed the ball to slip through for John Stones, who bundle home.

Some supporters have blamed the defeat on United's defending and believe that a new centre-back is required this month if the club want to win the league for the first time in eight years.

On joining United, Diallo said: After waiting since the summer, it is finally a dream come true to complete my move to Manchester United,” he said.

“I am hugely ambitious and there is so much that I want to achieve in the game; when I spoke to the manager I knew that I had joined the perfect club.

"This is a really exciting squad with so many great players, I can promise that I will work hard every day to learn from them and give everything to develop my game.”
