Manchester United fans loved what James Garner did in victory over Norwich City

Manchester United fans have been loving a piece of skill that James Garner displayed during his brief cameo in the 3-1 win over Norwich City on Sunday.

After going since March without a victory on the road, United have managed to win away from home twice in a week after defeating Partizan Belgrade and the Canaries.

The display at Carrow Road was probably United's best performance of the season as an exciting front three of the fit again Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James attacked with pace and vigour.

Rashford and Martial both made amends for their missed penalties by grabbing goals after Scott McTominay's opener and James managed to grab an assist.

They weren't the only ones to impress, however, as youngster Garner came on for his second Premier League appearance in the 82nd minute.

The 18-year-old had impressed in Serbia on Thursday in the heart of midfield and continued to knock on the door of the first team with another promising display.

One moment in particular really impressed United fans. As he received the ball in the closing minutes of the game he was immediately pressured by Emi Buendia.

However, with one quick drop of the shoulder he dummied the Norwich midfielder and sent him sprawling to the ground before spreading pass out wide.

It was a moment of surreal composure and skill for a player so young in only his third senior game and it has left supporters mightily impressed and thirsty for more.

The clip of Garner's skill was posted to the Reddit page r/reddevils and one fan said: "He is so composed, it's unreal."

The skill earned Garner comparisons to United legend Paul Scholes with one fan saying "It's really refreshing to see this smoothness in midfield. It reminds me of Scholes" and another echoed those thoughts: "His movement to find space and the vision to play passes before the ball gets to him is vintage Scholes."

Then plenty of fans called for Garner to be given more of a role in the first team.

"He came on and played like a metronome - wouldn't mind seeing him start alongside Pogba and Scott," said one.

Another added: "Really like the look of Garner, has great spatial awareness and good range of passing. Hoping to see him get more regular game time throughout the season."
