Manchester United fans loved 'class' Donny van de Beek moment against Aston Villa

Manchester United fans have been left impressed by Donny van de Beek after his first appearance for the club against Aston Villa on Saturday and they particularly loved a piece of skill he did in the first-half.

Less than a month after the previous season finally came to an end with a defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League semi-final, United are now preparing for the start of the 2020/21 campaign.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took his side to Villa Park on Saturday for their only pre-season friendly of the summer - though he was without many of his players who have only just returned from international duty.

Van de Beek was named in the starting XI for the first time following his move from Dutch champions Ajax and the 23-year-old impressed in a deep midfield role alongside Scott McTominay in the first half.

The Dutchman always made himself available for the ball and looked slick when he was in possession, with one piece of skill really standing out.

He received the ball with his back turned to an incoming defender but quickly dragged it to pirouette past the challenge and was then able to bear down on goal.

United may have lost the game 1-0 courtesy of an Ollie Watkins goal but supporters were thrilled by Van de Beek's tight control and flair, and can't wait to see him link up with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in midfield.

Van de Beek will get the chance to make his competitive debut for the club next Saturday when United get their Premier League campaign underway against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

The Eagles got their season off to a winning start this past Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Southampton.
