Manchester United fans love Bruno Fernandes' nickname for Fred

In three years at Manchester United midfielder Fred's performances have divided opinion, but supporters are seemingly in unison when it comes to the Brazilian's new moniker.

Fred signed for the club three years ago today from Shakhtar Donetsk, leaving the Ukrainian outfit in a £47m deal that tied him to the Red Devils for five years.

The 28-year-old, who is a regular under United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has made 121 appearances in all competitions since signing for the club and has four goals to his name.

To celebrate this anniversary, United posted a video of Fred's best moments during his time at Old Trafford to their Instagram account.

As expected, the reaction from commenters had its fair share of praise and criticism for the midfielder, but it was Bruno Fernandes' love for his teammate that stood out amongst all the patter.

Man United's Player of the Season commented on the post with a previously unheard nickname, dubbing the Brazilian “Fredinhooooooo”, adding the obligatory love heart emoji, of course.

A popular suffix in Brazil, "inho" literally translates as "baby" and is a common nickname, particularly footballers. The most popular of all is undoubtedly former World Cup winner Ronaldinho

Man United fans just hope the newly dubbed Fredinho will play half as well as his compatriot in the forthcoming Premier League campaign.
