Anthony Martial's 50th goal for Manchester United was certainly a popular one as the new no.9 put his side ahead at Wolves on Monday night.
"£50m down the drain, Tony Martial scores again," was promptly given a jubilant airing around Molineux after Martial fired home a slick attack involving Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.
Martial is operating in his favoured role upfront this season for United after the departure of Romelu Lukaku, and his first half strike against Wolves made it two goals in two matches this season.
After an inconsistent campaign last season, Martial is showing that calls for him to be given a run up front have been justified. And with a half century of goals under his belt, the supporters who mock the initial doubts over Martial's ability have surely been proved right.
