Manchester United fans left baffled by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Tyson Fury comments

Manchester United fans are still reeling from last weekend's horrific showing against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Trauma from the 5-0 hammering has not been washed away in the days since, with the pressure upon Ole Gunnar Solskjaer increasing significantly.

The Norwegian boss remains in charge heading into this weekend's trip to face Tottenham, which continues a crucial period for United.

Defeat at the hands of Spurs would surely push Solskjaer over the brink, with many already believing he is beyond the point of no return.

For his part, the former striker is defiant and looking for his squad to bounce back - but comments made in Friday's press conference left some fans scratching their heads.

Solskjaer decided to use WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury as motivation for his squad as they look to bring an end to a poor run of form.

"It felt like we were a boxer being punch drunk, knocked down in the first four minutes or in the first round. We had a chance, we conceded a goal, we wanted to sort it out, and went a bit too open and too frantic against a good team.

"You see Tyson Fury when he gets knocked down a couple of times, it's remarkable how calm and composed he is on the floor, counts to six, seven, eight and he gets up and goes again. We got up too early and tried to sort it."

Those comments did not impress some United supporters on social media though, as they believed it was further evidence of their boss losing his touch.

Defeat to Liverpool was certainly a knock-out blow and, if there is no response against Tottenham, the board could throw in the towel.
