Manchester United fans jump to same conclusion over Diogo Dalot after Crystal Palace snub

Manchester United fans believe Diogo Dalot's career at the club may be over after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to start Timothy Fosu-Mensah against Crystal Palace.

United suffered a double injury blow in the draw against Southampton last week with both Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams leaving the field.

Solskjaer confirmed both were doubtful to face the Eagles and many expected Dalot to be the natural replacement on the left side of defence.

Instead, the United manager selected Fosu-Mensah at left-back, the Dutchman's first start since May 2017 having not played a single minute of football this season after undergoing knee surgery.

Dalot is on the bench for the first time in ten league matchdays but fans believe the decision not to start the Portuguese may have signalled the end of his United career.

Solskjaer explained the decision to start Fosu-Mensah prior to kick off, suggesting the 22-year-old's good performances for the reserves earned him an opportunity.

He told BT Sport: "Timothy has been waiting for his chance, he’s played a couple of good reserve games and played in the friendly we had against West Brom, so he’ll be ready."
