Manchester United fans identify Scott McTominay as future captain after Barcelona game in Champions League

Manchester United fans think they have found a future captain in young midfielder Scott McTominay after his stand-out performance against Barcelona.

Given another chance in the centre of midfield thanks to injuries to Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic, McTominay did not look out of place against the likes of Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Lionel Messi.

McTominay scored his first senior goal for United in their last outing against Wolves, and was one of the midfield trio who played so well at PSG in the last round.

The Scotland international has took his chance in the first team this season, and his latest display will have only underlined his credentials as a future first choice midfielder at the club.

McTominay was constantly looking to break forward - drawing an early foul from Busquets in the process - and set the tempo of United's midfield with some fine break up play and passing.

Naturally, fans were delighted with the performance of the man they have affectionately named 'McSauce' - with some even predicting him as a future captain at the club.
