Manchester United fans identify next youngster to break into first team after Astana defeat in Europa League

Manchester United fans have picked out Ethan Laird as the best performing young player in the Europa League defeat to Astana.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed out six senior debuts in Kazakhstan, including Laird, but the experience of Astana proved enough to condemn United to their first defeat of the season in Europe.

Laird lined up on the right side of defence and impressed with his energetic performance from full-back.

Also catching the eye were James Garner and Dylan Levitt in midfield, and they were identified as the three players who could be the next generation to establish themselves in the first team.

For Laird, who Solskjaer described as 'excellent' after the game, he will have to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot at right back.

However, fans were encouraged by his first senior appearance and were keen to see more of the youngster going forward after his standout performance in Astana.
