Manchester United fans hijack Instagram comments after James Maddison sends message to Harry Maguire

Manchester United fans have spammed the comment section of Harry Maguire's latest Instagram post after transfer target James Maddison praised the skipper for his goal against Chelsea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side completed a league double against Chelsea with goals from Anthony Martial and Maguire securing a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

The header was Maguire's first Premier League goal since joining the Reds in the summer from Leicester City.

United could be set to raid the Foxes again in the summer with Maddison a key target for Solskjaer, the MEN understands. The England international wants to join United as the club prepares to continue its squad rebuild.

Sources close to Maddison have told the MEN he 'would have been at United years ago' if it was up to him.

Maddison congratulated Maguire following his goal against Chelsea, writing: "Well done brother," with a handshake emoji.

Even though the summer transfer window is a few months away, United fans were quick to try to facilitate Maddison's move to Old Trafford and hijacked the comment section to his reply.

There were hundreds of replies from United supporters calling for the 23-year-old to make the switch as soon as possible.

Here is a selection of their responses:

Last week, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed the club were still in negotiations with their prized asset over a new contract at the King Power Stadium.

He remained hopeful that Maddison would extend his stay.

Rodgers said: "The position is it’s still the same as where it’s at.

"The club and his representatives are still negotiating and hopefully they’ll find a conclusion."
