Manchester United fans have transfer theory after Alex Telles' injury

Manchester United fans think Brandon Williams won't go out on loan due to Alex Telles' injury.

Telles sustained an ankle injury in United's warm-up before their pre-season game against QPR on Saturday and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed the early indications show the Brazilian could be 'out for a few weeks', which means he could miss the start of the season.

The 28-year-old has struggled for minutes at United since arriving at Old Trafford last year and that's mostly been down to Luke Shaw's outstanding form, but the England international suffered a rib injury at the Euro 2020, so he also has fitness concerns.

That means United could play Leeds on August 14 for their opening game of the Premier League season without either of their first-choice left-backs, which has left supporters suggesting that Williams' proposed loan move this summer might not materialise.

Southampton are interested in a loan move for Williams, but fans think that deal might not happen now.

The MEN understand United are interested in Kieran Trippier this summer, though, and if the versatile full-back does swap Madrid for Manchester, then it's fair to assume that Williams could eventually leave on loan to accelerate his development as planned.
