There were also worries from fans about the depth in midfield without Paul Pogba. The Frenchman hasn't travelled with United's squad for the game at the Principality Stadium because of a back spasm, though there remains speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira and Scott McTominay made up the midfield trio for the AC Milan clash.
Many United fans were left wondering how they will cope without Pogba, while in defence many wanted to see a chance for Axel Tuanzebe.
