Manchester United fans have had their say on Daniel James' situation at the club following a difficult few months for the Wales international.
The 22-year-old started for United in the goalless draw with Chelsea on Saturday and attracted criticism on social media after the match.
In three appearances this season, James has not contributed a goal or an assist and has gone without a direct contribution to a goal in the league since last December.
Signed from Swansea City in the summer of 2019, James caught the eye initially at Old Trafford but has seen his performances plateau since.
James was linked with an exit from United during the summer transfer window, with Leeds United among those touted for his services.
He famously saw a transfer from Swansea to Leeds collapse on the deadline day of January 2019 when the Welsh side pulled the plug on the proposed move, only to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side months alter.
Fans on social media have now shared their thoughts on his situation and many believe that a temporary exit from the club in January would be beneficial for all parties.
Here's what they said:
There is a belief that James can still be a useful asset for Solskjaer in the future, but he should be given the opportunity to rekindle his form away from the pressures of United.
Whether that happens when the window reopens remains to be seen but it may be something for the club to think about in the coming months.
