Manchester United fans were split on the news that their club are 'keen' on signing Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey.
According to the Daily Mail, United are looking to upgrade their right-back department with Ralf Rangnick said to be looking for different options to Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.
Wan-Bissaka has struggled to find form at Old Trafford this season and his performances have presented Dalot with an opportunity to stake his claim as the starting right-back.
The report on Lamptey claims that the United and Brighton are at a crossroads with a £10m gap in valuation, as the Reds eye a £30m swoop.
But fans were undecided on the full-back as they responded to the links. A section of supporters were delighted with the development and urged the club to make the move, but a fraction felt loanee Ethan Laird is deserving of an opportunity after his success on loan at Swansea this season. Laird has recently made the loan switch to Championship leaders Bournemouth for the second half of the season.
Lamptey has enjoyed his development at the AMEX but has seen his recent progress hampered by a hamstring injury.
Laird, on the other hand, has steadily progressed during his spells in the Championship and saw his time at the Liberty Stadium cut short in order to seal a move to Scott Parker's side.
United splashed £50m on former Crystal Palace defender Wan-Bissaka but his form this season has been largely underwhelming.
