It was a successful night for both Manchester United and Anthony Martial.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men put fellow top-four hopefuls Sheffield United to the sword with a 3-0 victory which was secured by Martial's hat-trick.
The three points took them to within two of fourth-placed Chelsea, ahead of their game against Manchester City on Thursday.
And the game couldn’t have started better for United, with Martial nicely finishing Marcus Rashford’s low cross in just the seventh minute to give them the lead.
The Frenchman added to his tally just before half time to put United fully in command of the game and set it up perfectly to add more goals in the second half.
It was a chance that Martial didn’t miss, scoring United’s third goal and grabbing himself a hat trick.
The forward became the first United man to hit three in the same league game for some time, with Robin Van Persie in 2013 being the last to achieve the feat.
Predictably, United fans picked up on that fact on Twitter and rejoiced as the drought ended.
The hat trick also takes Martial on to 14 goals for the season in the Premier League, which is his best return in a United shirt.
The Frenchman also has 19 goals in all competitions, making him United's joint top scorer with Marcus Rashford.
