Manchester United fans have Paul Pogba theory after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decision

Manchester United supporters have shared their Paul Pogba theory after the midfielder was named captain for the visit of Granada this evening.

Harry Maguire, who is usually the skipper for United, was not included in the squad, with the defender suspended.

Marcus Rashford has been named on the bench by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the hosts boasting a 2-0 advantage going into this evening's decisive leg against the Spanish side.

Many United fans were surprised that Bruno Fernandes was not named as the captain despite being on the pitch alongside Pogba, with the Portugal international often being tipped as a leader on the pitch.

But Solskjaer went with Pogba and the club's supporters think this could be down to his contract situation.

The 28-year-old sees his deal at Old Trafford expire at the end of next season and fans think this could be Solskjaer's attempt at trying to get the Frenchman to sign a new contract with the club.

The full team is as follows: David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe, Alex Telles, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani.

United currently have a two-goal advantage thanks to Rashford and Fernandes' goals in last week's victory in Spain.

The Premier League side will be hoping for a comfortable night this evening, especially given Solskjaer's team selection, with some players being rested ahead of this weekend's clash with Burnley.

It's a big night for Pogba, who will proudly wear the captain's armband at Old Trafford and look to guide his side into the final four of the Europa League as Solskjaer seeks his first major honour as United boss.
