Manchester United fans have new Jadon Sancho theory amid Timo Werner to Chelsea reports

Many Manchester United fans are convinced that the path is now clear for their club to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

That's after numerous reports stated that Premier League rivals Chelsea were closing in on a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Chelsea had been heavily linked with Sancho, but look to be about to spend around £50million to trigger Werner's release clause. Frank Lampard's side have already arranged a transfer for Ajax forward Hakim Ziyech, who will arrive in the summer.

So it looks certain that the Stamford Bridge club have completed their forward signings for the time being, meaning United supporters are getting more hopeful their club can do a deal for Sancho.

MEN Sport understands the 20-year-old England winger remains top priority for United in the transfer market. And although they showed interest in Werner amid their search for a striker as well, the German international was not a top target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

United negotiated an extension of Odion Ighalo's loan from Shanghai Shenhua and, although they remain confident of securing signings as well as Sancho, the Dortmund man would be the jewel in the crown.

United fans took to social media to speak of their excitement about Sancho, with many waiting for a deal to be done at some stage this summer.

Here's what they said:

Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham are among United's other targets, but all eyes have been on Sancho since the Bundesliga returned to action after the coronavirus pandemic. Sancho smashed a hat-trick for Dortmund last week against Paderborn.
