Manchester United fans have Jadon Sancho transfer theory following Borussia Dortmund absence

Manchester United fans are convinced Jadon Sancho is heading to Old Trafford after Borussia Dortmund confirmed he would miss their Supercup clash with Bayern Munich.

MEN Sport understands that Sancho remains the club's number one transfer target with less than a week left of the window.

Although there have been no breakthroughs wit negotiations over a transfer fee, the club remain confident an agreement can be reached before the October 5 deadline.

Expectations over a move for Sancho escalated on Tuesday when Borussia Dortmund confirmed the winger was absent from their squad to face Bayern due to a respiratory problem.

A post on Dortmund's official Twitter page read: "Jadon Sancho and Roman Bürki will not fly to Munich as a result of respiratory infections.

"Additionally, both players tested negatively for COVID-19 yesterday (Monday)."

Whilst there is no apparent reason this would firm up a deal to United, supporters are adamant it's a positive sign of a deal nearing completion.

Fans have pointed to Harry Maguire's 'illness' from Leicester City training last season amid United's ongoing transfer pursuit, which, of course, ended successfully.

Sancho has started both of Dortmund's Bundesliga games this season including Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Ausburg.

It's understood that United are in various discussions to add to their single signing of Donny van De Beek before the window closes and, as well as Sancho, remain in talks with Porto over Alex Telles.
