Manchester United fans have a hopeful theory involving Harry Maguire and Youri Tielemans after the Belgian midfielder made his loan move at Leicester permanent on Monday.
United had been linked with Tielemans themselves as they look to bolster their midfield, but reports emerged to say they had never acted on some tentative enquiries.
Fans were quick to question why United did not move for a player of Tieleman's quality, after he scored three goals and registered five assists in 13 games for the Foxes last season from midfield.
But others were hopeful that United's lack of interest in Tielemans will pave the way for Leicester to sanction a move for defender Maguire.
United are interested in Maguire to improve their defence, but saw a £70m bid rejected. Leicester are reportedly asking for upwards of £85m, prompting United fans to speculate that a deal could now be done for a lower price following the Tielemans transfer.
