Manchester United fans have a new transfer theory after TV cameras caught Harry Maguire at full time

Manchester United fans have a new transfer theory following the victory over West Ham.

United beat the Hammers 1-0 in Sunday evening's Premier League showdown at Old Trafford.

A Craig Dawson own goal gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's men all three points as they strengthened their position inside the top four.

United are second in the table - 14 points adrift of leaders Manchester City, with a game in hand.

They are a point ahead of third-placed Leicester City and six clear of fourth-placed Chelsea.

Crucially, fifth-placed West Ham are now nine points behind United, albeit with a game in hand on them.

United skipper Harry Maguire was spotted chatting to West Ham midfielder Declan Rice at the final whistle.

As is now common, Maguire covered his mouth with his hand, to hide what was being said to his England colleague.

Plenty of mischievous United supporters reckon the defender was trying to persuade Rice to join him at Old Trafford should the club launch a transfer bid for him in the summer window.

"Agent Harry," said one fan account on Twitter, accompanied by a photograph of the two players in conversation.

Another United supporter tweeted: "The best CDM in the league," while a third said: "Would love him to come to us, quality player."

Not everyone is convinced Rice would be the perfect addition to Solskjaer's squad, however.

Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi, Chelsea's N'Golo Kante and Saul Niguez of Atletico Madrid are all mentioned as possible alternatives, if United look to bolster their ranks in that department.
