Manchester United fans give unanimous verdict on Ainsley Maitland-Niles transfer stance

Manchester United fans are pleased that the club won't be making a move for Arsenal player Ainsley Maitland-Niles this summer.

As usual in a transfer window, United have been linked with a host of players they have no concrete interest in and Maitland-Niles become the latest player to be rumoured with a move to Old Trafford.

Reports in Germany suggested the 23-year-old was a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and that an agreement with Arsenal was close, reporting the transfer was '80 per cent done'.

However, MEN Sport understand United have dismissed the speculation. Sources say there is nothing in the rumours as the club focuses their efforts on signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Alex Telles from Porto ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

United fans have been desperate for the club to add to their ranks with Donny van de Beek the only signing made this summer.

Nevertheless, they have stated their relief that Maitland-Niles won't be arriving at Carrington.

United have been urged by former captain Gary Neville to strengthen in three-positions, one of which is the left-back slot that Maitland-Niles and Telles can occupy.

Neville said: "It’s appalling that in this market which is probably the easiest in PL history to get transfers done that United haven’t done more yet!

"They must get Ole a centre-back, left-back and forward [sic] pre deadline! The others are managing to get things over the line why not United!"
