Manchester United fans get behind new team in Premier League title race vs Liverpool FC

Manchester United fans have thrown their support firmly behind Leicester City in the hope that someone can catch Premier League leaders Liverpool.

United's 2-1 Manchester derby victory over rivals Man City left Pep Guardiola's side 14 points behind the season's runaway leaders and seemingly out of the running.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have won 15 of their 16 games in the league this season, with their only dropped points coming against United.

Leicester, who face Aston Villa this afternoon, now look to be the main contenders to catch Liverpool. Brendon Rodgers' side are 11 points behind the Anfield club, but could move within eight points if they secure a win at Villa Park.

In recent years United fans have been forced to cheer on City in their title battles with Liverpool in the hope that the Merseysiders' title drought continues. They last won the league in 1990. United currently lead Liverpool 20-18 in number of league titles won in their history.

So while United fans could bask in the glory of a famous derby win on Saturday, there was a downside to victory in the mind of some.

But many supporters took to social media to voice their support of Leicester's title bid...
