Manchester United fans fuming at Ashley Young captain reports

Manchester United fans are not impressed with reports suggesting Ashley Young will be named permanent captain next season.

Antonio Valencia's departure from United means manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to appoint a new club captain for next season. Young deputised in the role for much of the campaign just finished.

A report in the Times on Tuesday suggested Young will be given the position of club captain, with Paul Pogba said to be handed the deputy role in a bid to keep him at the club.

Pogba was told he would never captain United again by former manager Jose Mourinho - a move that sparked an infamous dispute between the pair that arguably played a part in Mourinho's departure from the club. Pogba was later awarded the armband in the FA Cup defeat to Wolves in March by Solskjaer.

Fans are concerned that Young is being considered for the main role, suggesting his performances last season didn't warrant a place in the side, let alone the captaincy.
