Manchester United fans fume at 'disgusting' Moussa Sissoko challenge on Daniel James in Tottenham clash

Manchester United fans were left fuming at an apparent stamp from Tottenham Hotspur's Moussa Sissoko on Daniel James during their pre-season friendly in Shanghai.

Anthony Martial's goal gave United a deserved 1-0 lead at the Hongkou Stadium in what proved a feisty and high tempo affair between the two Premier League sides. Lucas Moura then equalised for Spurs in the second half, before Angel Gomes restored the United lead with a superb finish.

But one of the game's flash points was the incident between Sissoko and new United signing James. The France midfielder appeared to stamp on James in the corner, after the winger had tried to whizz beyond him and send in a cross.

Sissoko went unpunished by the referee — but did pick up a yellow card later in the game for another robust tackle.

Both players were subsequently replaced by their mangers at the break, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mauricio Pochettino opted to share the game time around their squad. The International Champions Cup match is United's last game of their tour before they return to Europe to face Kristiansund in Oslo and AC Milan in Cardiff.

James proved a lively presence for the Reds, before he was one of 11 players replaced at half time by Solskjaer.

But that didn't stop supporters talking about the stamp by Sissoko, which was out of place in a pre-season friendly. United fans argued that he put James in danger with the tackle.
