Manchester United fans fly plane with banner over Old Trafford ahead of Liverpool clash

Manchester United fans organised for an anti-Ed Woodward banner to be flown over Old Trafford ahead of kick-off against Liverpool yesterday.

The banner, reading 'Ed still failing - Woodward Out!', appeared to be in reference to United's recent decline with Woodward, the club's executive vice-chairman, continually coming under pressure for his football based decisions.

United fans also protested outside Old Trafford, with numerous banners being displayed asking questions over Woodward's position at the club.

Woodward isn't the only member of the club's hierarchy to be targeted by fans, though - with United's owners, the Glazer family, also the subject of constant criticism from large portions of the club's supporters.

Other banners on display outside Old Trafford yesterday took aim at the Glazers and their ownership.

Liverpool claimed a 1-1 draw last night thanks to a late Adam Lallana goal after Marcus Rashford had put the home side ahead in the first half.

Rashford's strike was a controversial one though, with a VAR check failing to disallow it despite a foul on Divock Origi in the build-up.

United have endured an indifferent start to their Premier League season, winning just twice in the league, and currently sit two points above the drop zone with pressure piling on boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Reds on the other hand are top of the table and still unbeaten, with a six-point lead over Man City after nine games of the campaign.

Liverpool play Genk away in the Champions League on Wednesday evening before Spurs visit Anfield in the league on Sunday.
