Manchester United fans fire shots at Chelsea FC star Kai Havertz after Barnsley hat-trick

Manchester United fans have joked that Chelsea playmaker Kai Havertz has found his level after scoring a hat-trick against Championship side Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

United will be joined by Chelsea in the fourth-round of the competition after Frank Lampard's men ran out 6-0 winners at Stamford Bridge against the lower league opposition.

Havertz joined the club this summer from Bayer Leverkusen and clips of his debut went viral on social media for wrong reasons, with a stray pass causing rival fans to poke fun at the German.

The 21-year-old can expect to be judged in the same way Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba have been at Manchester United, rival supporters are regularly critiquing their every move.

As a result, it's no surprise to see United fans joke that Havertz is more suited to facing Championship sides following his League Cup hat-trick in response to jibes from Chelsea supporters.

United were interested in a move for Havertz prior to his switch to London but MEN Sport understand the Reds had no intention of meeting Leverkusen's asking price this summer and opted against firming up their interest.

Jadon Sancho was and is still United's top target and Havertz was viewed as an alternative to the England international rather than an additional signing.
