Manchester United fans compare Mason Greenwood to former striker after Astana goal

Manchester United fans couldn't help but notice how similar Mason Greenwood's first senior goal was to former striker Robin van Persie's trademark finish.

Greenwood was given his first European start for United against Astana in the Europa League, and scored his first goal for the first team in the second half.

United had struggled to break down their opponents from Kazakhstan, until Greenwood received the ball in the area on his right foot.

The 17-year-old shifted onto his left before feinting back onto his right and arrowing a low shot under the visiting goalkeeper.

It was a clinical finish - days after manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed him as the best finisher he had worked with - and fans were understandably delighted for the latest academy product to score for the first team.

And it didn't escape the attention of supporters, who likened Greenwood's finish to many scored by former striker Van Persie during his time at the club.
