Manchester United fans thought Rio Ferdinand was hinting at a possible technical director role at Old Trafford after tweeting a photo with former teammate Edwin van der Sar ahead of Tottenham's Champions League clash with Ajax.
Now CEO at Ajax, van der Sar is one of the front-runners to become the new Technical Director at United in a summer shake-up of transfer policy at Old Trafford.
United are said to be looking at former players who know what it takes to represent the club, and Ferdinand has become one of the latest names to be linked with the vacancy.
So when Ferdinand posted a picture with van der Sar at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium accompanied with the caption 'dropping knowledge', United fans were convinced it was connected to the technical director rumours.
And predictably, supporters took the opportunity to dream of Ferdinand returning to the club to work as the new technical director, or even in a dual role alongside van der Sar.
