Manchester United fans beg for Erling Haaland transfer after he breaks Champions League record

Manchester United fans have been sent wild by Erling Braut Haaland's continued form in front of goal for Borussia Dortmund.

The striker became the youngest player in the history of the Champions League to score 20 goals on Tuesday as he bagged twice in last-16 second leg match against Sevilla.

With the first Haaland showed his expert movement before dispatching a simple tap in while his second eventually came from a retaken penalty. He had scored in open play but the strike was disallowed and a penalty was awarded. His initial spot-kick was saved but the goalkeeper was adjudged to have been off his line.

It's taken the 20-year-old just 14 games to hit the landmark - the quickest ever - and he has now scored 47 goals in 47 games for the German club, all of which has only increased the clamour among United fans to see him at Old Trafford.

United were interested in signing Haaland from RB Salzburg in 2020 but pulled out of the deal after they refused to agree to a buyout clause and percentage of future sales.

The Norwegian's value has only skyrocketed since, and he has become one of the most highly sought after players in the game.

While a new centre-back is the priority for United this coming summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also said the club will be open to bringing in a new striker.

The need for one may have just got more pressing, too, after the father of Edinson Cavani revealed on Tuesday night that the Uruguayan is unhappy in Manchester and is looking to return to South America to be closer to his family.

United fans have made it clear that Haaland is the striker they want to see arrive at the club.

Cavani has made a good impact at United since arriving at the summer but, according to his father, he will be leaving in the summer.

"My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again," Cavani's father, Luis, told TyC Sports.

"Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

"Edinson had many conversations with Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca.

"He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.

"By the middle of the year he will return to South America. My son's idea is not to continue there, he wants to return."
