A group of Manchester United fans reportedly came under attack by masked assailants in Bergamo, ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash with Atalanta, with a 24-hour alcohol ban now coming into effect in the city.
United supporters have travelled to Italy to watch their team take on the Serie A side as they aim to extend their lead at the top of Group F.
As several supporters sat in a Bergamo pub on Monday, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that a group of masked men, some armed, attempted to break into the room and in the process injured one fan as well as a waitress.
The Italian newspaper adds that local police have already carried out four searches and published CCTV footage of the incident.
Video footage shared by the publication appears to show a large group of hooded and masked men, some yielding bats and one even hurling a plant pot, attacking people and attempting to break through the door of the bar.

The city of Bergamo was already planning to impose an alcohol ban for 24-hours before the attack and that ban is now in effect from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning. In that time, the sale of alcohol above 5% will be prohibited in bars, restaurants and shops in the city centre to the surrounding areas of Atalanta's home ground, the Gewiss Stadium.
It's hoped that the ban will lessen the likelihood of further altercations on game day.
United say they are aware of an isolated incident where United fans were involved in an unprovoked altercation, and that they are liaising with supporters in the city to ensure tonight's match passes off peacefully.
