Manchester United fans ask same question after 'personal scout sent to watch Erling Haaland'

Manchester United fans have been left confused after reports suggested that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has instructed his personal scout to watch Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Haaland.

The 19-year-old is one of the most in-form players on the planet having scored his fifth hat-trick of the season at the weekend, taking his goal tally to 35 in just 21 competitive appearances this term.

United want to sign a striker and it has been speculated that Haaland is a target, given Solskjaer worked with the youngster during his time at Molde.

The Athletic claim the United boss has sent his personal scout Simon Wells to watch the forward with the club intensifying their interest in the forward. Wells is believed to have already watched Haaland feature in the Champions League - he is the competition's leading scorer this season. 

Given United are expected to face competition from all around Europe for Haaland's signature, some supporters have been left confused by the decision for Solskjaer to scout the Norwegian.

They feel that Solskjaer's experience working with the forward in the past combined with his extraordinary goal record this season should be more than enough to put a seal of approval on the transfer, before a rival club beats them to it.
