Manchester United fans applaud Fred over late contribution vs Fulham

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is spoiled for choice in the Manchester United midfield at the moment.

Scott McTominay was the man to miss out against Fulham on Wednesday night, with Paul Pogba taking centre stage in the middle of the park, while the debate rages on online pver Donny van de Beek's lack of game time.

Pogba was moved into a central position alongside Fred and although the former's left-footed screamer grabbed all the headlines, United fans are appreciative of the dogged work from latter that has allowed the Reds' record signing to flourish alongside Bruno Fernandes.

With competition for places at an all-time high in the United midfield since Solskjaer took over, Fred 's discipline alongside two creative players has been vital.

Against Fulham, there was a moment late on in the second half when the Brazilian refused to give up on keeping possession for United despite being challenged by a number of Fulham players.

On Reddit, United supporters were quick to highlight the clip, which sees the 27-year-old in the wars, battling to recover possession for his side.

Fred's commitment didn't waver in the closing stages (Reddit.)

Gameboy4830 : That was my favourite moment of the game. Played with aggression and a good work ethic on this move.

AndersSteam : I am loving the ethic and aggression too. When bruno made a mistake and screwed up a pass in our half he backtracked sprinting and won the ball back.

ProtoplanetaryNebula : He's like a Yorkshire Terrier there, just keeps on fighting and fighting.

EverydaySmoke : Fred is one of our unsung hero in most matches, this is not the first time he is recovering balls like that, he has been doing it especially this season

indeed_indeed_indeed : The hustle is unbelievable.

HighonCosmos : My fav part of the game, absolutely beautiful watching him fight for the ball, never give up
