Manchester United fans all say the same thing after Thomas Tuchel is confirmed as Chelsea boss

Manchester United fans have been giving their reaction after Thomas Tuchel was officially confirmed as Chelsea's new head coach.

The German has been appointed to replace Frank Lampard, who was sacked by the club on Monday.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund boss has signed an 18-month contract with the Blues, with the option of a possible extension.

"I would like to thank Chelsea FC for their confidence in me and my staff," said Tuchel.

"We all have the greatest respect for Frank Lampard’s work and the legacy he created at Chelsea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaks ahead of Sheffield United

"At the same time, I cannot wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football.

"I am grateful to now be part of the Chelsea family - it feels amazing!"

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: "It is never easy to change head coach in the middle of the season but we are very happy to secure one of Europe’s best coaches in Thomas Tuchel.

"There is still much to play for and much to achieve, this season and beyond. We welcome Thomas to the club."

Tuchel will be in the dugout for Wednesday night's Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea are ninth in the table, 11 points adrift of leaders United following a poor run of results, which ultimately cost club legend Lampard his job after 18 months in charge.

The West London outfit have had a particularly high turnover of managers in recent years, under the ownership of Roman Abramovich.

We asked United fans if they thought Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would outlast Tuchel in their current posts.

The response was pretty emphatic, with one supporter saying on Twitter: "I mean it is Chelsea, so there is a good chance he will."

Another tweeted: "And his replacement, and his replacement's replacement."

Meanwhile, a third fan said: "Sure he will, we believe in him 100%."

United are due to play Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, February 28.
