Manchester United fans all say the same thing after Angel Gomes wonder goal

Manchester United fans think it is only a matter of time before Angel Gomes comes back to haunt them after his latest exploits for Portuguese side Boavista.

Salford-born midfielder Gomes rejected the chance to sign a new contract at United earlier in the year and was free to leave the club when his deal expired in the summer.

Gomes was snapped up by French side Lille on a free transfer before they immediately loaned him out to Portugal for the next stage of his development.

The 20-year-old grabbed headlines on his Boavista debut last month when he registered three assists in their 3-3 draw with Nacional, but now he has gone one better with his first goal for the club.

Gomes scored an outrageous goal from the halfway line against Moreirense on Friday night with clips of the goal going viral over social media. The amazing strike was a reminder of the former United youngster's incredible talent, and for fans also a reminder of their transfer regret.

Gomes opted to leave the club he joined when he was just six years old when his contract expired at the end of June due to concerns over his pathway into the first team.

United were keen to keep hold of the talented 20-year-old but Gomes turned down contract offers at Old Trafford.
